Called the “Land of the Eternal Sun” by the Cahillia Indians, La Quinta’s history dates all the way back to the 16th Century, when Captain Juan Batista D’ Anza recognized La Quinta as the fifth base between Mexico and the San Gabriel Mission. The La Quinta Resort and Club were established in 1926 by the son of a wealthy San Franciscan businessman, and opened its doors to the public in 1927.
