THE JEWEL OF DICKSON by Judy Byrne

Are you planning a trip to the Grand Ole Opry, a Titans football game, or some other Nashville attraction? Then let me highly recommend where to take a break in your journey. Tucked away off Interstate 40 West, traveling from Winston Salem, North Carolina, to the little town of Dickson, Tennessee is a Comfort Inn Motel to give you a comfortable stay.. This is a motel with all the amenities of a five-star hotel without the expense.

You step into the foyer you are immediately awakened from your journey by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tantalizing cookies. Next, you are greeted by smiling personnel waiting to comply with your every request to ensure your comfort. As you enter your room you notice the cleanliness and lemony smell. There are two full-size beds, a phone, a television set and a nice clean bathroom. After a good night’s sleep, breakfast the following morning is anything but continental. I was expecting cereal, doughnuts, toast and coffee. Instead, there were biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, three different kinds of cereal, bagels, doughnuts and Belgian waffles. For your drinking pleasure, coffee, tea, milk and the best cranberry grape juice I have ever drunk.

There is also a hostess that will make your waffle, get your juice and whatever else she can do to make your breakfast experience memorable. There is a pool and a gym room. Now I know there are motels with golf courses, Jacuzzi’s, high definition televisions, heat lamps in the bathroom and other things. If you have a need for all these things, its fine. It’s your preference, but if you are a weary traveler and you just need a room for the night for a good price – here is a gem. I am told the Comfort Inn has a minimum requirement for those who own them. Jay Patel and his sales manager, Sheila Arnold go the extra mile to insure their guests a memorable experience. They did everything but turn the bed down and put a mint on the pillow.
