We frequently travel in our RV across country to see friends and family, and we are always looking for the unusual and terrific places to park our big rig, places we feel great about inviting friends to join us for a meal or just to sit and talk and enjoy the amenities of the place. Now in a few places we have found true RV RESORTS to rave about.
Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort
One, where we have chosen to stay several times, is the beautiful Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. Here is truly a respite with an exquisite, quiet setting to get a breather from the casinos, where it is always neon daytime and the noise and lights get to you after awhile. The Oasis is located very near the airport and just at the south end of the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard). The beautiful resort looks like an Oasis in the middle of the vast desert. The palm trees and many other varieties are tall and full, and the waterfalls and lush green grass and beautiful flowers make you forget you were just in the noise and crass, over-the-top atmospheres of the gambling world nearby.
Oasis offers all the amenities for RVers that you could dream of: from excellent large sites with grass or gravel for picnic area, to a wonderful reception building which houses a good store and gift shop and tickets for attractions, and, yes, some slot machines! The two gorgeous swimming pools have a large waterfall as a backdrop and a beautiful park area with trees and flowers to sit in shade for as long as you wish.
While In Las Vegas Be Sure To See The Blue Man Group
We have enjoyed this unique show several times in different cities, and we love this one at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas best. For anyone with a blue face to make the audience laugh and clap without ever saying a word is QUITE an accomplishment. The Blue Man Group, recently featured on on NBC’s hit show “The Celebrity Apprentice” gives the audience two hours of laughter and amazing music and antics. Any show which makes you smile to remember it years later is truly WONDERFUL, and Blue Man Group does just this!
Blue Man Group is a multinational media and entertainment company with theatrical and digital media operations across four continents, permanent live performance installations in seven cities, an ongoing theatrical tour of the USA and Canada, as well as a highly acclaimed show on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Epic.
COYOTE RANCH RESORT AND CAMPGROUND
Rolling on across the USA eastward, we stopped in the middle of the continent at the brand new Coyote Ranch Resort and Campground just east of Wichita Falls, Texas. What an amazing place: The ranch style of the beautiful buildings is modern and upscale but with a cowboy influence. The RV campsites are up to 100 feet long, have grass picnic areas for each site with some with trees and all the sites have 50/30 amps. There is a marvelous clubhouse and two beautiful swimming pools. The ranch-style bath and laundry buildings are spotlessly clean and very attractive.
This very large RV resort has an unusual concept for such a place, but a brilliant thing to incorporate. They host and cater any size event, from business meetings and conventions to family reunions, retreats, and weddings, accommodating around 200 people.
There are some wonderful cabins and lodge to rent, and they even have a Wedding Chapel and Honeymoon cabin! When we arrived the first time there was a large wedding reception being held in the terrific banquet room, and the children were being entertained with their own party in the pool area. All the families were having a terrific time.
This is a wonderful campground to know about, with a fishing pond, animals to pet (including a miniature horse). The recreation building is large and has lots to do, as well as many outdoor activities to enjoy. This is a REAL TEXAS TREAT for RV-ers and campers and tenters! We highly recommend it, but maybe not in July, as Texas gets hot!
